When installing a bugfix release, the following simplified procedure can be used. The procedure can only be used for bugfix releases within one major version (e.g., 2020.3 or 2021.1). This means, updates from 202X.Y.Z to 202X.Y.Z+N are covered, all others not. For example, updates from 2020.3.1 to 2020.3.3 are covered by this procedure, updates from 2020.2.2 to 2020.3.3 not. Non covered procedures must follow Update FireStart Server
Within the covered releases, the DB is not changed, so a rollback to the pervious update version is possible without restoring a DB backup. So, for example, using 2020.3.1 is possible after 2020.3.3 has been installed without a rollback of the DB.
Exception: if the release notes mention a DB change in a bugfix release, the full Update FireStart Server procedure must be executed and a rollback of the DB is needed, if a former version should be used again.
Follow the steps below to update the FireStart Server with a bugfix release:
- Stop FireStart
- Take a snapshot of the VM or keep a copy of the installer of the currently used version
- Start new setup
- Click through the setup process
- Start FireStart
If you are unsure whether the simplified procedure fits to your planed update, contact support or use the full Update FireStart Server procedure!
